Mehak Makhija is a contemporary fine artist based in Toronto, Canada. Working primarily in acrylic, her paintings are an ongoing process of finding—and allowing herself to redefine—her visual language.

She leaves the raw ground exposed, allowing what is unfinished to remain visible. Loose, gestural florals and recurring, often unresolved portraits move through her compositions. Her work is less concerned with fixed meaning than with leaving space for interpretation—familiar enough to invite recognition, incomplete enough to leave room for the viewer.

Figuring Out, her debut collection, marks the first public chapter of this process: ten original paintings created while locating a visual language, rather than after having found one. The collection is a study in showing up before anything feels finished or certain—embracing the uncertainty of making, and allowing the work to reveal where it wants to go.
